THE DYNAMIC TRIO 

With the hot, passionate sounds of opera, the cool, soothing tones of jazz, and the songs you know and love from classic Broadway, Fusion is a show not to be missed.

 

The group consists of the versatile talents of seven artists, who come together as a Trio. The artists are; soprano Clarissa Spata (Opera Australia, Australian International Opera Company, Opera New England), alto Eva Spata (jazz performer at The Basement in Sydney & Channel 10 Young Achiever) ,baritone Javier Vilarino (Opera Australia (HANDA),Opera Promethuis and Canberra International Music Festival), tenor Samuel Bennett (StageArt, Victorian Theatre Company, and Pearl Entertainment.), Soprano Emilie Lemasson (Bangalow Music Festival and Opera Projects) ,baritone Alex Sefton (Opera Australia and Opera New England) and soprano Kathryn Williams (Opera Australia extra chorus and ONE)

 

The singers of  Fusion have been performing together since 2007, and have featured on national television, appeared on 2GB with Alan Jones and on ABC Radio. The group has sung on National and International tours, including the launch of their music on iTunes at the Apple Store in Osaka, Japan in 2010. The singers are a favourite, leading act on Royal Caribbean, Celebrity and P & O Cruises worldwide.  One highlight for the group was singing at World Youth Day in 2008 on the night Pope Benedict XVI arrived in Sydney, in front of 140,000 pilgrims from all over the world.

Fusion Vocal Group appears as a dynamic Trio for Concerts, Tours, Corporate functions, Weddings and Luxury Cruise Liners around the world. The combination varies from two males, one female, or two females, one male, depending on the availability of our artists. CLARISSA SPATA - Executive Producer/Creative Director

 

Soprano Clarissa Spata has recently covered Musetta for Opera Australia's La Boheme on Sydney Harbour, performed the role of High Priestess in Aida and First Lady in Die Zauberflote for AIP touring China, and worked with Opera Australia’s Touring Company for the past 6 years. Clarissa has performed the role of Papagena in Opera Australia's National Tour of The Magic Fluteand in previous years: Rosina in The Barber of Seville,'Gretel in 'Hansel and GretelPamina, Queen of The Night/First Lady/Papagena in The Magic Flute, Clorinda and Cinderella in Cinderella, and the soprano role of Clown/Lady Sue in the Australian opera Sid The Serpent Who Wanted to Sing. Clarissa performed Micaela in Opera New England's Carmen, sang the Soprano role in Willoughby Symphony Orchestra's Mozart Requiem, toured a Broadway Gala Show throughout China, and is a favourite on Princess Cruises performing as the lead Soprano for their Production show, BRAVO.

Clarissa won Opera Foundation Australia’s Lady Fairfax New York Scholarship in 2011, the Opera Awards Royal Overseas League Bursary Award , and in past years, The Dame Joan Sutherland Encouragement Award. Clarissa has toured and performed nationally and internationally with ENCORE Vocal group, The 7 Sopranos and SMA Production shows such as Opera by Disguise and Entertainment by Design.  She was also a soloist on the ABC’s The 7 Sopranos self titled first album, released in 2013, and was featured as a soloist and in the ensembles on their latest album, Popcorn. Clarissa regularly performs her solo crossover show on Luxury Cruise Liners around the world and has recently supported Sony Music's Tenor, Mark Vincent on his Love Will Lead The Way 2016 Tour. Future engagements include; performing the role of Frasquita, as well as covering the role of Micaela, for The Australian International Opera Company's Carmen tour later this year.  Clarissa performs as the Soprano in Fusion Vocal group. specialising in Opera and Music Theatre.

EVA SPATA - Executive Producer/Musical Director

 

Eva Spata is a versatile performer, whose credits include jazz, musical theatre, opera, cabaret, television and radio, as well as producing and directing. She has won many awards including Young Ambassador For The Performing Arts (Australia Day Council) and Channel 10 Young Achiever of the Year. In addition to performing the Alto role in ENCORE Vocal Group for six years, Eva has performed her solo Jazz show in leading Sydney venues such as The Basement (The Rocks, Sydney) and the Marble Bar (Hilton Hotel Sydney), as well as being a founding member of 4 Queens of Jazz. Eva is also an experienced Producer, Director and Musical Director, with credits including Disney’s High School Musical, Grease, Annie, Oklahoma, Back to the 80’s and Bye Bye Birdie. She also works with gifted and talented students in leading secondary schools in Sydney, pioneering a Talent Development Program in dance, acting, singing and instrumental music. Students from her TDP have performed across Australia and the USA. Eva established and directed an acapella Ensemble, Bel Canto, who in 2015, became AusAca national champions. Eva has a Bachelor of Music Bachelor of Education from the University of New South Wales, and a Masters in Educational Leadership. Eva performs as the Alto in Fusion Vocal Group, specialising in Jazz and Music Theatre.

Javier Vilariño is one of Australia’s most engaging and eclectic baritones who’s repertoire ranges from the exquisite arias of Bach to the sensual tangos of Piazzolla. As a graduate of The Sydney Conservatorium of Music, Javier has studied and performed many operatic roles as a guest artist for companies, such as Pacific Opera, Newcastle Festival Opera, Opera Prometheus and the Canberra International Music Festival and was part of Opera Australia's Handa production of Bizet's Carmen and Mozart's Cosi Fan Tutte. His musical studies have taken him to Italy and Spain, international performances include a private performance for the malaysian Primeminister. Javier is currently performing on Princess cruises as part of their production show, BRAVO, with Soprano Clarissa Spata, and performing their operatic duo; Le Stelle. Future engagements include;  the role of Silvio in Pagliacci for Merrigong Festival, later this year. Javier performs as the Baritone in Fusion Vocal Group, specialising in Opera and Music Theatre.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Samuel Bennett studied at The Victorian College of the Arts with a BA Fine Arts(Music Theatre) in 2014, and Advanced Diploma of Music Theatre from APO Arts Academy. He has enjoyed a myriad of performance opportunities, both local and abroad. His theatre credits include Jason in Elevate, (The Dizzy Biz, MICF),Jim Farrell in Titanic: The Musical (StageArt), Monty/Lead Guitarist in Saturday Night Fever (StageArt), Male Swing in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (Vic Theatre Co) Percy Cavill in Out of the Blue: A swimming musical (Pearl Entertainment), Geoff in Young & Jacksons (45Downstairs), Will Parker in Oklahoma, (Production Company Project) Balladeer in Assassins, (Showbites), General Bullmoose in Li'l Abner (director Martin Cross). Samuel is a keen musician and composer, lending his talents to Pop/Rock acts, and theatrical musical direction. Samuel performs the role of our Tenor in Fusion Vocal Group, specialising in Jazz and Music Theatre.

Emilie Lemasson was born in France, and studied voice and piano from an early age. She completed her tertiary studies as a student of the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, gaining a Bachelor of Music, as well as studying a Diploma of Opera. Emilie was invited to sing for Opera Australia, Opera Projects, and as a guest artist for Bangalow Music Festival and the Sydney Wagner Society. She has performed in productions of Mozart's Cosi fan Tutte and Le Nozze di Figaro, as well as Britten's A Midsummer Night's Dream. In 2016, Emilie performed the role of Kate Pinkerton in the Opera Projects production of Puccini's Madama Butterfly, under the direction of Cheryl Barker, as well as the role of Sister Infermeria in their production of Suor Angelica. Emilie is featured in Resonance Concerts and Events throughout the year. Future engagements include; La Voix Humaine in Berlin and Paris in early 2018. Emilie performs the Swing role of the Soprano and Mezzo role for Fusion Vocal Group, specialising in Opera and Music Theatre

Alex Sefton grew up in Newcastle before his love of opera ended up taking him to Perth where he graduated from Western Australian Performing Arts with a Bachelor of Music and a Graduate Diploma in Classical Voice. For two years he was a member of the Opera Australia Schools Company, performing the roles of Sarastro in The Magic Flute, Figaro and Count Almaviva in The Barber of Seville. Alex also performed the roles of Marcello in La Boheme, Escamillo in Carmen, Germont in La Traviata, and most recently, Olin Blitch in Susannah with Opera New England. He has performed the roles of Sarastro in The Magic Flute, and Escamillo, in Carmen, with Central Coast Opera. He appeared in Opera Hunter's production of The Marriage of Figaro, as the title role. Future engagements include; performing the role of Don Giovanni in Don Giovanni  with Opera Hunter later this year. Alex performs as the Baritone in Fusion Vocal Group, specialising in Opera and Music Theatre.

Kathryn Williams completed a Masters of Music Studies (Opera Performance) at The Sydney Conservatorium of Music in 2014, after having completed a BMUS in Music Studies in Classical Voice in 2012. Roles include, Musetta from La Boheme in 2012, with Opera New England, Micaela in Carmen in 2015, and in 2016, Violetta in La Traviata, all with the same company (ONE). Kate has been a soloist in Mendelssohn's Elijah, with The Sydney Conservatorium Orchestra, conducted by Neil McEwan, and as a soloist with the Sydney Graduate Choir,performing in An English Winter's Evening, conducted by Christopher Bowen. Opera Australia extra chorus: Turandot, Carmen, King Roger, and Cavalliera Rusticana/Pagliacci. Kathryn performs the Soprano part of our Trio, specialising in Opera and Music Theatre.
